This route takes you on a scenically diverse, but strenuous transition from the tourist region of Gstaad to L'Etivaz. The magnificent Alpine views on the Eggli and Gummfluh and at Jable and, in particular, the inspiringly beautiful trail over the Gros Jable-Petit Jable to Plan au Lare compensate for the very steep ascents and descents at the beginning and at the end of the route. You will also find short distances on asphalt outside the villages.

From Gstaad railway station you walk through the pedestrian zone to the railway crossing and through this and on to the Louwibach Bridge. Now cross the valley westwards and walk uphill on the other side of the Saane. You will rapidly gain in altitude as you pass by a small stream and through the forest and meadows. For the last 100 altitude metres to Haldisbärgli (Eggli station) you walk right next to the gondola cableway, which only operates in winter. A magnificent panoramic view rewards you for your exertions up the steep ascent. Enjoy multifaceted views from the trail on the high ridge between Chalberhöni and Meielsgrund. The trail passes by the Vorders and Hinders Eggli mountain huts and upwards along the side of the wooded Muttehubel. Now the path descends into the depression in front of the Wilde Bode mountain hut (to Meielsgrund-Gstaad 2 hours, unfortunately half on asphalt; to Gour de Comborsin-La Videmanette 2:20 hours, a mountain hiking trail), a dip between Eggli and Gummfluh.
